Nikolai Phalen is a Barcelona-based comedian, filmmaker, and writer whose work blends absurdist confession, queer anxiety, and surreal storytelling. Born in Russia, raised in Arizona, and currently operating somewhere between international artist and administrative disaster, Nikolai turns personal history into sharp comedy about identity, ambition, spirituality, sex, pop culture, and the humiliating logistics of being alive.
His solo show Fever Dream TV premiered at the New York City Fringe Festival, combining stand-up, multimedia performance, and meta-theatrical chaos into a genre-bending comedy hour. As a filmmaker and artist, his work has screened and exhibited internationally, giving his comedy a visual, cinematic, and deeply strange edge.
At Laugh After Dark Fest, Nikolai brings a comic voice that is fast, vulnerable, unhinged in the correct direction, and always chasing the sacred through the stupid.
